Enjoyment Value

What do we mean by Enjoyment?

Participating in football should enhance players’ natural enjoyment of sport.  We will support the long-term development of all our players, teams and coaches by prioritising learning, development and enjoyment over results and short-term gains.  We will promote and provide football opportunities for players, coaches and volunteers of all ages within an inclusive, safe, fun and engaging environment that puts the personal development well-being, safety and enjoyment of young people and children at the centre of everything we do.

Identity Colour: Youthful Yellow

West Hallam Junior sides have always played in the colour yellow as our home kit since 1980. The youthful yellow represents the junior side of the club which is the focus of West Hallam JFC today. It links to our value of enjoyment as it it embodies energy and vibrancy, reflecting the joy and excitement of playing football, which aligns perfectly with the club's value. This colour signifies the emphasis on creating a fun, inclusive, and engaging environment where the well-being and enjoyment of young players are prioritised above all else. Additionally, it links to the club’s key aim of player development which is the primary focus of any grassroots junior football club.

How do we implement our Enjoyment value?

  • Coaches will ensure there is a focus on ‘fun’ during the training sessions and sessions should be designed to be engaging with an emphasis on football style games that reduce periods of standing around.

  • We will push the positive within the club – this will be done by highlight player achievements and use of appropriate and precise praise from coaches.

  • We will ensure that we differentiate training sessions to ensure the sessions are accessible to different ages and abilities.

  • West Hallam Juniors commits to giving fair playing time to players which is defined as 50% minimum over the course of a season for the games the player is eligible for selection.

  • Conduct safeguarding surveys of players and parents to ensure that we are creating a safe environment and address any concerns.

  • Hold Player Voice meetings with the CWO and act on any feedback which is given to the Club.

  • Regular reviews between coaches, players, parents and club to ensure all members are happy and any issues resolved.

  • Organise non-football events for the players such as visiting professional football teams, tours, and tournaments.
